Bilateral microphone array for dual applications

The pair of earphones has a microphone array including a front microphone and a rear microphone, respectively. The processor uses a first set of filters to combine the four microphone signals to generate a far-field signal that is more sensitive to sounds that are a bit away from the earphone than to sounds that are close to the device. Used to provide a far field signal to the speaker for output. The processor also combines the four microphone signals to generate a near-field signal that is more sensitive to the audio signal from the person wearing the earphone than to the sound generated away from the earphone. Two sets of filters are also used to provide near-field signals to the communication system.
