Video content switching and synchronization system, and how to switch between multiple video formats

A video content type seamless switching system and method for synchronizing and displaying multiple types of video content on a single platform, such as a single video player, application or other content player. An exemplary video content type switch may be between 2D and 360 degree formats and is displayed simultaneously by the switch controller. The switching controller may be configured to operate with an implementation of a video content switching method, along with associated control components, such as a television display and a cable box.
