The present invention relates to an encoder and a distance sensor comprising an encoder of this kind and to a method for producing an encoder of this kind. The encoder has an encoder rod, which is fastened on the one hand to a component that is to be monitored, for example a valve gate, and on the other hand to a sensor core. The sensor core is moved in a coil of the distance sensor and thus generates an electric output signal. The sensor core is manufactured, and in so doing is also fastened to the encoder rod, by means of an additive or generative process, for example by means of a 3D printer.
