PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel compositions for prevention or treatment of infectious pneumonia which have little risk of emergence of drug resistant bacteria, with little side effects.;SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a composition for the prevention and treatment of infectious pneumonia, such as pneumococcal (Streptococcus pneumoniae) infectious pneumonia, the composition comprising as an active ingredient Ascophyllum nodosum, such as water-soluble polysaccharides including ascophyllan extracted from Ascophyllum nodosum, or one more compounds contained the same, and to foods and feeds comprising the same.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT
