Disclosed are a fluorescence detection agent for specifically detecting arginine and a preparation method for detection test paper. The detection agent ((E)-2-((4-(diethylamino)benzylidene)amino)benzoic acid, DBAB) is synthesized from 4-(diethylamino)benzaldehyde and 2-aminobenzoic acid in one step; and then white filter paper is immersed in a DBAB solution to prepare detection test paper. In the solution, DBAB exhibits specific recognition toward arginine. In a colorimetric experiment, a DBAB-Arg mixed solution exhibits an obvious color change from yellow to colorless; and in a fluorescence experiment, a DBAB-arginine mixed solution exhibits an obvious fluorescence change from blue to purple. The same phenomenon occurs in a test paper experiment. According to ultraviolet absorption spectrum and fluorescence spectrum display, DBAB is a multi-channel sensor having dual-absorption signals and dual-emission signals for arginine. The described detection method has high selectivity and transient responsiveness.
