Multi-channel (MC) setup and access for millimeter wave (mmW) systems and mechanisms for waveform design can be used. An access point (AP) that is part of a basic service set (BSS) can provide multi-channel (MC) access to one or more stations (STAs) in the BSS. The AP can monitor for beacon frames transmitted by other access points / personal basic service set (PBSS) control points (AP / PCP) associated with the overlapping basic service set (OBSS). The monitored beacon frame may include service period (SP) scheduling information for the OBSS. The AP can generate at least one SP and / or contention based access period (CBAP) allocation to be used within the beacon interval, taking into account the SP scheduling information for the OBSS. The AP can send a beacon indicating the SP / CBAP allocation to the STA. Other mechanisms can include simultaneous transmission of multiple single carrier (SC) waveforms using non-overlapping waveforms to multiple STAs.
