To enable a driver to properly confirm relative positional relationship between a vehicle and surroundings.SOLUTION: An overhead image generation device comprises: an image data acquisition unit 42; an overhead image generation unit 44 which performs viewpoint conversion processing and synthesis processing of the periphery image acquired by the image data acquisition unit 42 to generate an overhead image; a parking section detection unit 45 detecting a parking section on a periphery of a vehicle; a determination unit 46 determining discontinuity of stop position in a cross direction with respect to a plurality of parking sections arranged next to each other on the basis of the parking sections detected by the parking section detection unit 45; a superimposition processing unit 47 generating, when the determination unit 46 determines discontinuity of stop position in the cross direction of the vehicle with respect to the parking sections arranged next to each other, an overlapping image superimposing a virtual section sign indicating stop position in the cross direction of the vehicle with respect to the parking sections over the overhead image generated by the overhead image generation unit 44; and a display control unit 48 displaying the overlapping image generated by the superimposition processing unit 47 on a display panel 31.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
