FIELD: underground construction. ;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to underground construction and can be used when it is necessary to adjoin the approach tunnel to the existing pylon-type deep subway station. Method of creating the upper cross-cut abutting joint of the approach tunnel to the existing metro pylon station, which is being built without interrupting the operation of the station, consists in driving the approach tunnel to the existing metro station with middle and side station tunnels made of preassembled tubing, out of which a cross-cut abutting joint chamber is created, located above the operated side tunnel of the station and containing a crown, side and end walls. Moreover, one of the end walls of the cross-cut chamber rests on a pylon between the middle and side tunnels. The abutting joint is accomplished within the passenger area of the existing pylon-type subway station. Initially, from the approach tunnel, the crown and side walls of the abutting joint chamber are developed and concreted; the chamber is located only above the side tunnel, which is the closest to the approach tunnel. Then, the far end wall of the abutting joint chamber is constructed, while the side walls and the far end wall of the abutting joint chamber rest on the existing pylon located between the middle tunnel and the side tunnel closest to the approach tunnel, and the closed lining loops of the side station tunnel. This is the end wall of the abutting joint chamber, adjacent to the approach tunnel, which is constructed. After the construction of the abutting joint chamber, under protection of the crown and walls of the abutting joint chamber, the tubing of the side station tunnel closest to the approach tunnel is dismantled within the prospective openings. Furthermore, in each open loop of the side tunnel lining from the side of the approach tunnel at the level of the abutting joint chamber buckle plate, support embedded metals are mounted, which serve to transfer normal forces in the open loops of the tunnel lining to the buckle plate of the abutting joint chamber, and the buckle plate of the abutting joint chamber is concreted; then the internal arrangement of the abutting joint chamber is carried out.;EFFECT: reduced volume of construction and concrete work, as well as created reliable structure of the upper abutting joint of the approach tunnel to the existing pylon-type subway station within the passenger area without interrupting the operation of the station.;1 cl, 3 dwg
