A stretching unit (10) for clamping and stretching a tubular film (4) in a flow-wrapper (11) is proposed, the stretching unit (10) comprising - a gripping head (14); - two coupling rods (15) attached to a moving means (12); - two gripping fingers (16), each gripping finger (16) attached to the gripping head (14) and to one coupling rod (15); characterized in, that the gripping fingers (16) are moved from a remote position (A) to a clamping position (C) by a relative linear movement between the gripping head (14) and the moving means (12) parallel to a center axis (H) of the moving means (12). Furthermore, a further stretching unit (10), a flow-wrapper (1) and methods for clamping and stretching tubular film (4) are proposed.
