PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system suitable for classifying each image in a stream of images by a brain computer interface (BCI). A method of classifying an image includes a step of applying a computer vision procedure to an image to detect a candidate image area suspected of being occupied by a target in the image, and an observer of each candidate image area. A step of collecting a neurophysiological signal from the observer's brain by presenting it as a visual stimulus, and a step of processing the neurophysiological signal to identify a neurophysiological event indicating the observer's detection of a target.
