In a method for detecting inadmissible operating states of the working hydraulics (14) of an agricultural tractor, the working hydraulics (14) comprise at least one electrically actuatable control valve (16, 18) with a hydraulic coupling (30, 32) for connecting a hydraulic consumer (22), one in the at least one control valve (16, 18) provided branch (48) for supplying a hydraulic lifting mechanism (50) of a front linkage (52) with hydraulic fluid and an operating unit (54) intended for manual actuation of the working hydraulics (14) of the front linkage (52). According to the invention, a state variable indicating a plugged state of the hydraulic coupling (30, 32) is detected by means of a sensor unit (66, 68) and fed to a control unit (12), the operating unit (54) being deactivated when the control unit (12) evaluates the state variable is recognized that a hydraulic consumer (22) is connected to the hydraulic clutch (30, 32).
