The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for protecting a battery, and more particularly, to an EMA obtained based on a sensor signal value measured using a gas sensor installed in a space including a battery. Algorithms for early detection of leaks, a method using a cumulative warning index algorithm and a comparison sensor to prevent sensor malfunction, and an environment monitoring sensor installed to monitor the environment of the battery, are used to prevent condensation in the space containing the battery. It relates to an apparatus and method for protecting a battery including predicting a moisture collection point.
