A thin film heater and a method of fabricating a thin film heater is described. The thin film heater includes a flexible heating element and a flexible electrically insulating backing film supporting the heating element; wherein the backing film comprises one or both of a fluoropolymer or Polyetheretherketone. By using a fluoropolymer or Polyetheretherketone, improved dielectric and mechanical properties are provided, which are particularly suited to application in an aerosol generating device.
