A fibrous substrate comprising:a multitude of integrated fibre elements with a three-dimensional image pattern assigned to the fibre elements,where the three-dimensional image pattern comprises a majority of mutually reinforcing, first and second image elements, each of which originate from an upper surface of the substrate,where the first pictorial elements give the substrate a small-scale pattern element and the second pictorial elements give the substrate a relatively larger victim pattern element, the second, larger pictorial elements each having a arc-shaped configuration,with the second image elements above the first image elements, so that, during a winding of the fibrous substrate, layers of the fibrous substrate exert pressure on the sacrificial pattern element provided by the second image elements to flatten the arc-shaped configuration of the second image elements, while the first image elements are protected up to a reduction of no more than 20%.
