A vibration damping plain bearing composite comprises an elastic layer 14, the elastic layer 14 having a first major surface and a second major surface opposite the first major surface, wherein the elastic layer 14 has a thickness of at least 0.15 mm; a sliding layer 10 overlying the first major surface and the sliding layer 10 having a thickness of at least 0.05 mm; and a dimensionally stable support 12 layer overlying the second major surface, the dimensionally stable support layer 12 comprising steel. The vibration damping plain bearing further comprises an axial collar.
