The invention relates to a deflector (20) for a diffuser (10) of a gas generator (50), in particular for a tubular gas generator (50) of an airbag module, having a substantially tubular main deflector body (21) and a gas discharge device (22) associated therewith, the gas discharge device (22) having a substantially rectangular area and two outflow regions (23, 24) on opposing side walls (25, 26), so that a gas can flow outwards from the interior of the gas discharge device (22) substantially in opposing directions along the longitudinal axis (16) of the tubular main deflector body (21). Furthermore, the invention relates to a diffuser-deflector assembly of a gas generator having such a deflector, a gas generator having such a diffuser-deflector assembly and an airbag module which has such a gas generator. Furthermore, the invention discloses a method for producing such a deflector and a method for installing such a deflector on a diffuser of a gas generator.
