PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component for olefin polymerization catalyst, which has high activity per solid constituent and enables obtaining a high-molecular weight polymer.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a component for olefin polymerization catalyst, comprising the steps A and B, where step A is a step of reacting a layered silicate (a) with acids to obtain a chemically treated layered silicate (b); and step B is a step of contacting the chemically treated layered silicate (b) obtained from step A with bases and adjusting the pH at the end of the step to 4 or less to obtain a chemically treated layered silicate (c). Further provided is the method for producing a component for olefin polymerization catalyst, further comprising steps C and D, where step C is a step of washing the chemically treated layered silicate (c); and step D is a step of further contacting the chemically treated layered silicate (c) with acids to obtain a chemically treated layered silicate (d).SELECTED DRAWING: None
