PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a slag-making stage end point and an apparatus for determining a slag-making stage end point in which the impurity grade in blister copper can be suppressed.SOLUTION: The method for determining a slag-making stage end point is characterized to include: a step in which, during operation of slag-making stage of a copper smelting converter, whether or not the copper grade of the matte put into the converter is equal to or more than a threshold value is determined; and a step in which, when it is determined that the copper grade is equal to or higher than the threshold value, the point in time when the temperature of the molten metal becomes equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature is regarded as the end point of the slag-making stage, and when it is determined that the copper grade is less than the threshold value, the point in time when the copper grade of white matte obtained in the converter becomes equal to or higher than a predetermined value is determined as the end point of the slag-making stage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
