An object is to provide a coating liquid for forming an insulating film of a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, and a method for producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, in which the film tension is large and coating properties excellent in corrosion resistance are obtained even without the use of a chromium compound. The solution is a coating liquid for forming an insulating film for grain-oriented electrical steel sheets, containing hydrated silicate particles containing aluminum and boric acid.
