11,142. Punchard, J. H. June 19. Motor road vehicles.-A, detachable band-brake wheel, especially applicable to the hubs of bicycle, motor-car, or other vehicle wheels, is shown in Figs. 2 and 3. Split-ring portions e, provided with inwardly-projecting flanges e1 to prevent lateral movement, are fitted to the portion a2 of the hub a, the portions being fastened together by bolts f. The web g1 of the ring or brake rim g is bolted or fastened to the projecting flanges e4 of the split portions. Any suitable band brake may be employed, or the band brake may be applied as described in Specifications No. 21,939, A.D. 1896, and No. 18,342, A.D. 1897. As shown, the clip i is fixed to the fork c, and has the band i attached to it at the lower end. The other end j2 of the band is fixed to the bell crank k, which is operated by the connecting-rod l from the handle-bar by means of levers and bell cranks, or by other suitable means. A suitable spring normally presses the bell crank k towards the rim g. The split portions e may have radial arms for fixing to the web portion g1. The bolt-holes in the web g1 are preferably longer than the screws or bolts used for fixing, and may be slightly elongated.
