The pull-chain is attached to a sliding rod a, the lower end of which is fitted with a gravity catch g. The seat q rests upon the forward end p of a bar o pivoted at n and held up by a spring r. When the seat is depressed, the rear end of the bar o rises above, and engages with, the catch g. When the seat is again liberated, the spring r, acting through the rod o and catch g, operates the pull-chain, and starts a flush. The bar o is arrested by a crossbar u, and the catch g is simultaneously released by the edge t1. In a modification, the catch is tripped by a cord connecting its tail to the lever of the ball float.
