An Improved Machine for Cleaning Miner's Safety Lamps.

7542. Morgan, T. H. March 29. Miners' lamps, cleaning.-Duplicate sets of apparatus are mounted on a table a carried by a frame b, which is preferably provided with wheels. Each set of apparatus comprises two cones o, o3, a mop o' and a brush o', and the end cones o of each set are similarly driven from the motor c by means of the shafts d, h, the belts f, and the bevel gearing i. The spindles of the second cone o3, the mop o', and the brush o2 are driven from the spindle of the end cone o by the belt l. When the oil reservoir has been removed from the lamp, the body thereof is placed upon the rotating cone o, which projects into the ring carrying the lamp glass and unscrews it. The glass and the gauze of the lamp are then withdrawn, and placed respectively upon the rotating mop o' and brush o2. After they have been cleaned, they are replaced in the lamp body, and the ring carrying the lamp glass is placed on the cone o3, which, rotating in an opposite direction to the cone o, screws the ring into position. The oil reservoir can then be reattached. A separate operative attends to each set of apparatus.
