An Improvement in or Attachment for Tables used in Playing Table Tennis or similar Games.

Modified tennis ; balls, collecting.-A trough a, Fig. 1, is mounted at each side of the table, to receive balls rolling from the side of the table, and to convey them to either end, according to the direction in which the trough is inclined. A heavy ball or roller e, rolling in a tube e', maintains the trough a in the inclined position to which it has been set. The troughs are of canvas &c. stretched on frames. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, sliding bars f form extensions of bars h pivoted to the frame of the table at opposite ends. The troughs are detachable from the bars f, which can then be slid along the bars h out of the way. The canvas troughs are secured to hinged end-pieces j, and are held taut by cords k attached to the pieces and passing through the bars f. The cords are tightened by ratchet drums l. The troughs are so connected with the pieces that their length is variable. When a trestle table is used, the side troughs may be merely hinged to its edges, the inclination being a permanent one.
