Pictorial toys.-Apparatus for producing scintillating effects consists of two sheets of perforated c a r d - board, metal, or the like, placed one behind the other and movable relatively. The perforations in the front sheet b may represent a word, portrait, or other design, and, in the case of toys, this sheet is preferably mounted in a frame a, the back sheet being pivoted to the frame at d and oscillated by means of a handle c projecting through a slot f in the frame. Instead of oscillating the back sheet, it may be rotated about a central pivot; or both sheets may be moved.
