Theatrical appliances. -Relates to a changing-picture device which may be used for advertising purposes, for stage scenery, for conjuring illusions, or as a toy. The device consists of two frames a, Fig. 1, each having an aperture b, across which a series of overlapping strips c are secured. Pictures, inscriptions, or the like, are printed on the strips. The frames are placed together with the strips on one frame projecting between the strips on the other as shown in Fig. 6. If the frames are moved relatively to each other so that the strips of one set are withdrawn a little from between the others, the picture seen by an observer changes. By using open frames as described, pictures may be printed on both sides of the strips. If desired, the colours of the pictures may be made to change by using one or more intermediate frames bearing strips of transparent material.
