Sewage and foul waters, treating ; precipitants and deodorants.-Relates to the recovery of hydrocarbons from the waste liquors arising from the manufacture of peat-moss fibre, or paper, and to the purification of the liquor itself. The brownish liquor is gathered in large tanks, and the hydrocarbons are precipitated by an acid, preferably by hydrochloric acid, when the water may be run off purified. The precipitate is subsequently treated so as to free it from some or all of its water by any known mechanical means, and the hydrocarbons are separated by distillation, sublimation, or other known means from the precipitate, either when in a fluid or semi-fluid condition, or when dried. Before distillation or sublimation, the precipitate may be re-dissolved in an alkaline solution.
