AÙrating liquids.-In a method of aÙrating liquids, the gas is introduced in a finely-divided condition at or near the bottom, and the liquid is given a circular motion by rotating-stirrers. Fig. 4 shows half of one of the supply pipes, and Fig. 5 a whole pipe. The gas inlet pipes are made in two longitudinal sections, which are divided by a plate A, Fig. 4, provided with comb-like teeth along one edge. A frame, supporting the wire gauze M, Fig. 5, is secured in front of the series of outlets formed by the teeth of the plate A. Gas is admitted to the inlet pipes at intervals, by means of a spring-held valve J, Fig. 7, which is operated, by a one, two, or three-armed rotary cam F, to open the ports K.
