22,268. Herdman, G. W. Oct. 13. Levelling - staves. - Relates to a method of hinging together two sections of a levelling-staff. Fig. 1 shows in full lines the two sections c, d clamped in a straight line by the turn-button q, one half a of the hinge being shown in the bent position by dotted lines. The hinge flaps consist of plates a, k screwed on to the sides of the staff and jointed by pivots n at each side. The overlapping part c* of the section c fits into corresponding recess in the section d and is clamped in position by a turnbutton q which passes into inclined grooves in extensions of the plates k.
