Chemical balances; casings.-The balance casing is provided with two doors of the vertically - sliding type, one at the back and the other in front, to facilitate the weighing of objects of great length. The base-plate e inside the casing is provided with a series of holes for carrying the cylindrical major or standard weights a3 in order of magnitude. In front of these holes and parallel with them are others b4 for carrying the minor or fractional weights, provided with a number indicating the magnitude of the contained weight. This series is covered by a glass plate c sunk in a groove in the base, and in front a groove d serves for holding the manipulating-clip.
