Account-books ; indexing.-A combined index ledger and balance sheet book is shown open in Fig. 2, with certain sheets partly turned over, and in end view in Fig. 4. Three backing-sheets 13, 12, 15, preferably of equal size, are connected together by hinges 14, 16, the latter considerably wider than the former. Balance sheets 17 are attached along the middle line of the sheet 12, and one or more ledger name or title sheets 18 along the left-hand margin of the sheet 12, so that one sheet 18 will serve for a number of sheets 17. Removable sheets 19 of thick paper or cardboard are secured to the sheet 12 in order to maintain the sheets 18 level with the sheets 17. The sheet 13 is provided with sheets 20 containing general balance headings and hinged at the upper parts. Leaves 21 containing an alphabetical index of the ledger names or titles are hinged at the upper parts to the sheet 15, and preferably stepped and indexed at the bottoms, and provided with a cover 22 hinged at the top.
