Improvements in Rails for Tramways or Street Railways.

Rails.-Relates to divided or compound rails for tramways and street railways, such as described in Specification No. 16,451, A.D. 1902, and consists in forming the rails of a fixed longitudinal base portion and a removable and renewable upper or wearing portion. The rail may consists of a lower T-shaped portion 1 flanged at a and connected to the upper recessed wearing portion or head 2 by screws 3. Fig. 3 shows another form, in which the lower part 1a is grooved to receive a lip or web formed on the head 2a. The two parts may be slotted and connected together by cottars m, n and keys e, as shown in Fig. 4, in place of screws.
