Vases, baskets, flowerpots, jardinieres, pedestals, clockcases, toilet ware, or other articles of china or earthenware, are formed with panels, which are ornamented with lithographic enamel transfers applied to the ware in a biscuit state. The articles are covered with coloured glaze by dipping, pencilling, or blowing, and the panels are cleaned with a sponge, or masked with paper, and are covered with a white or faintly-coloured glaze before the transfers are applied. The borders of the panels, handles, and other parts are ornamented by stamping, pencilling or printing in gold, and the inside of the article may be coated with white or faintlycoloured glaze.
