Couplings, non - automatic.-To prevent accidental disengagement o f the pin of an ordinary D - coupling for colliery trams, the pin is provided with a lug g1 adapted to be passed through a slot c1 in the circular hole of the lower arm, but before an upper oval, tapering part g2 of the pin can seat itself in a correspondingly-sbaped hole in the upper arm, the pin has to be partially revolved, so that the lug is turned from opposite the slot, and the pin secured. To withdraw the pin, it has to be raised till its upper part is clear of the oval conical seating, and then turned to bring the lug under the slot.
