The shackle A, pivoted at a, moves across the mouth of the slotted opening e in the case B. The shackle is moved by means of the arm c engaging a notch in the bolt C, which is operated by lever or other mechanism. The bottom of the opening e is closed by the part h of the case, and by the stumps of the rivets k. The shackle A may be connected to the bolt C by the link l, Fig. 3. or it may have a fork engaging a pin on the bolt, or a toothed quadrant engaging a rack on the bolt.
