24,033. Galley, J. G. Nov. 5. Emergency-exit fastenings.-Relates to automatically-operated bolts of the type described in Specification No. 22,732, A.D. 1901, for the emergency exits of theatres, factories, and other places. The invention is shown applied to double doors d, Figs. 1 and 3, meeting at d1, the bolts being retained in their sockets p above and below the door by means of pins k at their tail ends engaging notches m1 in the grooves m of the cam-plate n. To release the doors, the lever a is rotated, the pins leave the notches, and springs o withdraw the bolts. Motion is imparted to the lever a through a horizontal plate b carried at its extremity, and engaging the end f1 of a lever f which is mounted upon a spindle supported in bearings c' attached to the door. A spring f2 normally tends to withdraw the lever f from the plate b. A second lever g carried by the spindle e carries a roller k, and bears against a bar or false panel j which is hinged to a bracket on the door, and is normally pressed outwards by a spring j1. When pressure is exerted against the bar or panel, the spindle e is rocked, the lever f presses upon the plate b and rotates the lever a, thus releasing the pins k from the notches m1. The bolts may be of single, double, or multiple form. The hinged bar j may be divided centrally in the case of double doors, and may be mounted completely on springs instead of being hinged. Swing doors to open either way have a double bolt upon each door.
