Enamelling; bricks, tiles, and potteryÀ-The goods are coated with bodying-slip and glaze by conveying them on an endless belt A beneath two or more jets Q of slip or glaze, and spraying the material in opposite directions by jets of steam, air, gas, or other fluid from nozzles T, each preferably having three orifices. The belt A is driven from a shaft E, and is adjusted by an end screw. The slip is supplied to tanks L provided with sieves and mechanical agitators ; the nozzles Q, Fig. 4, may be closed by plates R sliding in brackets S. Side plates X protect the sides of the bricks &c., and a sloping roof W prevents splashing. Surplus slip is collected in troughs Y.
