摘要
26,012. Annandale, J. H. Nov. 28. Rag-engines and other pulping engines; mixing pulp.-Relates to apparatus for beating, triturating, and refining paper pulp similar to that described in Specification No. 30,103, A.D. 1896. The pulp is fed under pressure by a pipe to a converging inlet or recess d, Fig. 1, formed in the end cover F1, and is acted on by inwardly-projecting stationary blades E on the casing D overlapping and fitting between radially-disposed or inclined cutter blades B on a revolving drum A mounted on a shaft C. The pulp then passes through the diverging outlet d' formed in the end cover F to the outlet pipe H. The shaft C is carried in bearings M, N, adjusted by screws O3 to impart lateral travel to the shaft C, a spring P, compressed by a block O1 on which the end of the screw spindle O bears, easing the dead pressure. The distance between the blades may thus be varied, an adjustable dead-block N preventing actual contact of the blades. When rags or woven materials are being triturated, the contacting edges of the blades B, E are serrated. If desired, the drum and casing may be made conical ; the casing may also be rotated. The drum A may be cast solid, or made up of discs, each alternate, and preferably thinner, disc A' being slotted to receive the blade B, which may also be secured by rings a on the discs entering the slots in the bars B. The casing may be constructed of a series of rings D1, slotted to receive the blades E and of wider spacing-rings D'. The rings D1, D2 may be bolted together, and the casing D dispensed with.
