Yarns, leasing &c.-Relates to an expanding or other comb for facilitating the leasing of the yarns in beaming, warping, sectional warping, and other machines, and for otherwise dividing yarns and threads into groups of desired sizes. The comb a is furnished with teeth b bent transversely at their centres and provided with holes j, through which some of the yarns are passed, the others being passed between the teeth. The holder c is adjusted in position by turning the screwed rod m engaging a fixed nut n, and a vertical slot in the bracket l on the holder c Leasing is performed by raising the comb holder by a handle P and lever mechanism q, r. The combs a are guided by rods d, a wire i, passing through holes in the lower parts of the teeth, preventing vertical displacement of the latter. In expanding combs such as those illustrated, the teeth are adjusted by turning a right and left handed screw h engaging nuts on blocks g, to which, by means of pins f, spiral spacing-springs e &c. are attached. The teeth may be provided with slits extending from the edges thereof to the holes j, the slits being simply gaps, or formed so that one side of each slit shall overlap the other side.
