Improvements in Beam-warping Machines for Beaming Yarns or Threads or Forming them into Warps or other similar Assemblages of Yarns or Threads from Bobbins, Cheeses or Cops mounted in Creels.
25,739. Seeley, A. Nov. 26. Yarns, warping and beaming; warp beams.-The yarn-guiding comb a, Fig. 2, is given a longitudinal movement to distribute the yarns properly, and a vertical movement to equalize the wear on the dents of the comb. In the form shown, the comb is fixed to a bar i provided with rollersj which run up fixed inclines g. The bar i is adjustably fixed by a nut w to a screwed rod r, which may be turned to effect the adjustment by a handle y. The rod r is reciprocated axially by an eccentric p on a shaft which is connected to the roller shaft k by worm gearing. Cams and levers or other means may be used instead of the eccentric and inclines. The rollers over which the yarns pass are mounted to revolve on antifriction bowls or in ball or roller bearings. Beam barrels, either solid or tubular, are formed of paper, strengthened, if desired, by metal, wood, or paper &c. brushes or collars. The paper may be treated with varnish, shellac, wax, &c., or covered with rubber. Fig. 7 shows a barrel made of a paper tube 8 with wood &c. blocks 9, 10 mounted on a shaft 11. Collars 12 fixed to the shaft have projections 13 engaging with the blocks 9. In another form, the tube 8, Fig. 8, is secured to a wooden bush 14 provided with pivots 15 having spiked collars 16. Flanges 18 are fixed as usual. A paper covering may be used for restoring the ordinary wooden barrels when worn. The drums used for driving the beam barrels may be constructed like the barrels, and these drums, or wooden or iron drums, may be covered with rubber, vulcanite, or other material not attacked by the water, acid, &c. in the yarns.
