4439. Lees & Co., A., and Taylor, R. Feb. 23. Coilers.-To prevent accumulation of fly &c. on the top of the coiler, a trough-shaped appliance d, Fig. 1, is hinged to the coiler lid b. As the coiler fills, the air expelled drives the fly through the half tube d, and the fly falls down beyond the top of the coiler. In another arrangement, Fig. 5, the trough d is made much shorter, and beyond it a concave roller is carried by wires g soldered to the trough d. The fly &c. is pressed by the roller into the sliver, and passes with it through the trumpet mouth c into the coiler can.
