Washing ores.- Water and ore are fed downwards into a classifier on one side of an adjustable division plate 7, and the water, flowing under the plate 7, carries the lighter matter upwards on the other side and discharges over the lip 18. Water under pressure is simultaneously supplied beneath the perforated false bottom 13 to assist the washing and the discharge, and the heavy materials are removed through regulated inclined openings 19.
