Blast and cupola furnace charges.-An agglutinant for powdered iron ores, iron wastes, or iron sands consists of a mixture of water-glass with either the concentrated aluminium sulphate known as " cake alum " or potassium or ammonium alum. The alum may be mixed with ore and a water-glass solution added, or mixed solutions of alum and water-glass may be used with the ore. The ore may then be moulded, pressed, or hardened in any known way to form briquettes.
