25,248. Rouse, T., and Cohn, H. Nov. 19. Blast and cupola furnace charges.-Pulverulent iron ores &c. are briquetted with alum or its derivatives as a binding-agent. A four per cent. aqueous solution of alum may be used in such proportion that the briquettes contain about 0À28 per cent. of the salt. The briquettes harden on standing at air temperatures, but may be further hardened by heating to about 700‹ C.
