Vehicles with manure-distributing and seed-sowing apparatus; watering-carts.-Sprocket-wheels are permanently or removably fixed to the spokes of the wheels of common carts, wagons, or other vehicles, so that the wheels may actuate removable manure - spreading, grain - sowing, hay-shaking, swath-turning, thistle-cutting, or crop-spraying apparatus fitted on the carts &c. Fig. 1 represents a cart to the top side-rail of which manuredistributing apparatus has been secured by clamping projecting bars to the cross-bars of the vehicle. The sprocket-wheel a is clipped to the outside of the wheel b, and drives the distributing-drum k by means of the chain l held against it by an adjustable guide-pulley n and passing round an intermediate wheel h. The drum k is mounted on adjustable stays or on a framework c1, and the manure is fed to it along a trough c, which may or may not end in a snoot d. The manure is thrown from the cart into the trough, and is carried forwards by the moving bottom i, which consists of an endless chain of slats, driven as shown. The manure-distributer may be modified to act as a grain-sower; or grain may be distributed by a rotating disc driven from the wheel a. Hay-shaking and swath-turning apparatus may consist of spikes or spring forks fixed to a drum or cranked axle or of rotating bladed propellers, any of these being driven from the sprocket-wheel as in the previous case. Thistles may be cut by a rotary cutter fitted with spiral blades and working against a fixed blade. Crop-spraying liquid may be carried by a vessel mounted on the cart, and may be forced through spraying-nozzles or perforated pipes by means of a pump, driven from the wheel a. The various mechanisms may be mounted beneath the cart, or on the side opposite to the sprocket-wheel. The Provisional Specification states that the sprocket-wheel may be mounted on the hub of the cart wheel.
