Tables seats and s t o o l s.-Portable folding tables and stools are constructed, as shown in Fig. 1, with a central tube carrying a disc B to which are hinged a number of arms D. These arms are connected by flexible ribs F to a ring G surrounding the tube and resting, when the table &c. is open, on legs K which are hinged to a sliding ring H. The lower ends of the legs are hinged to stays L connected to a sliding ring M which is prevented from coming off the tube by a cap N. When the table &c. is folded, the legs close up and can pass within the ring G and ribs F. A fixed ring O may be provided to prevent the ribs from buckling inwards when folded, and a loose ring P slides over them to keep them in place. If the inner tube is not long enough, it may be made telescopic, or a removable extension may be fitted to the lower end. To strengthen the apparatus, stay-bars may be fitted to the centres of the ribs F, hinged to an extra ring free to slide on the tube. In the case of a table, a cover may be provided, consisting of strips of wood connected by leather &c.
