Photographs &c.-A record disc for gramophones and similar sound-reproducing machines consists of a soundless or non-resonant substance such as pulp provided on its face or faces with a coating of resinous cement, in which coating the sound record is impressed. The object is to obtain a hard wearing material in which to form the grooves, and at the same time avoid any resonance to the scratching and similar noiees produced by the stylus. The resinous cement consists of resinous substances such as colophony, shellac, and copal, together with earths and fibrous substances, and the required colouring-matter.
