17,565. Flory, T. W. Aug. 30. Speed indicators; odometers; counting-apparatus.- Comprises transmission gear for and means for securing a counter. Upon a motor-car or vehicle wheel or other rotating body is mounted an annular plate having m it slightly more than one turn of a spiral groove 2, Fig. 2. A pinion 3 engages this groove and is connected by a flexible or other shaft to a series of bevel-wheels ending in a cranked arm which actuates the counter. These bevel-wheels can be changed according to the size of the vehicle wheels. A counter is mounted on a plate 17, Fig. 7, which is fixed to a bed-plate by a screw 19 and a slot 18, as shown. A fork 6, Fig. 2, supporting the above-mentioned pinion 3 is held in a spring clip by an eye-bolt 26 and a nut 27, Fig. 4, a rod 29 being gripped in the eye of the bolt against a recessed washer 28. A similar arrangement connects the rod 29 to a clip 30, which is fastened where convenient, the pinion being adjustable to any position by means of the nuts 27.
