Improvements in and relating to Levers and Gothrough Lace Machines used in the Manufacture of Silk and Cotton Lace

Lace machines.-The working of the Levers and " go-through " types is modified by slowly traversing the bobbins in a predetermined sequence of movements, in order that equal amounts of yarn may be drawn off all the bobbins. The back comb-bar 1 is moved endways one or more gaits at a time by the action of the cam-pieces 9a of a lever 9 on adjustable stops 7, 8. The lever is rocked by a shaft 14 provided with two collars such as 15, each having a projection 22, which can be engaged by a pair of pawls such as 21, pivoted to loose plates such as 19. The latter can be rocked in opposite directions on the shaft 14 by suitable connexions with other moving parts of the machine. The pawls are lifted into work by means of a swinging frame 23, lifted by a jacquard cord 27. The frame lifts the pawls of one plate only into action at a time, but can be slid endways at long intervals, to bring the pawls of the other plate into action, by a jacquard-controlled pawl which acts on a ratchet having attached to it an edge cam. The movement of the bobbins relative to the comb-bar being thus reversed, the bobbins eventually arrive at the initial position. The lift of the jacquard is arranged to occur at a convenient time during the working of a complete pattern. A catch 37 for locking the lever 17 in the mid position is controlled by the same card as the frame 23 and withdrawn previously to the lifting of the latter.
