Improvements in and applicable to Jacquards

Jacquards. - Relates to a fast - running spring - dropper jacquard, in which the droppers are prevented from moving in the course of a selection higher than is necessary and can be positively returned to the lowest position prior to the next selection. Each dropper a, Fig. 3, has a slot, recess, or pin f, by means of which the cross. bars g of a movable frame can restrict the movements. The droppers are selected from their lowest position while the frame is in the highest position, and they cannot therefore be raised by accident or otherwise higher than a certain amount. After the selected droppers have been liberated, the frame descends, taking with it by means of the cross-bars g any droppers that have not already fallen, and at the same time preventing any droppers from rebounding. To allow the replacement of broken droppers &c., the cross-bars g, Fig. 1, are shouldered to fit grooves in a horizontally-sliding carrying-bar h, being held by clips and screws to facilitate removal. In a modification, the wedge-shaped ends of the bars g, Fig. 6, are held in the bar h by small clips k. For compactness, the cross-bars can be cast in leads like the combs &c. of lace machines. Where the invention is applied to existing jacquards, the top shoulder of the recess f would be bevelled off as shown, to prevent the droppers from resting on the upper sley after being liberated.
