Plates &c., washing.-A plate-washing machine comprises two compartments a, a1, beneath one a of which is a space for a centrifugal pump z ; this pump draws the washing-liquid from the compartment a and distributes it back through the rotary jets e', which direct streams of the fluid against the plate. and the like contained in the removable basket b. When the washing is finished, the basket is removed by means of the travelling windlass g, and lowered into the rinsing-compartment a1. The pump is shown driven by an electric motor i. An apparatus may be provided to keep the liquid hot. In a modification, the rinsing-compartment as well as the washing-compartment is provided with a pump and rotary distributing-jets, and the supports for the plate basket c are on a level with the top of the machine. To cover the baskets and to prevent the liquid from being thrown out of the machine, a removable cover is provided in which the partition between the compartments is extended to the top by means of a sliding panel.
